Link for 10/2/09 – CNN Heroes

There is really nothing I can say about this except to encourage all of you to go visit this site and read about these extraordinary people.  These 10 people have made such a huge impact on our world and I have so much respect and admiration for them.  As I think about my life, I know I can make an impact and improve the world in which I live.   We all have that potential, after all, I know that even if I do something small, I am still making a difference.  I often think about the “The Starfish Story” by Loren Eiseley and adapted by many different writers and speakers. 

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed
a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. 

Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”

The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. 
The surf is up and the tide is going out.  If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”

“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? 
You can’t make a

After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish,
and threw it back into the surf.  Then, smiling at the
man, he said…”
I made a difference for that one.”
